The Black Flamingo

Michael is a mixed-race gay teen growing up in London, never quite feeling Greek enough or Black enough, and always searching for where he belongs. At university he discovers a drag society and the chance to step onstage as the Black Flamingo. Told in lyrical free verse by poet Dean Atta, this coming-of-age novel about identity and self-acceptance won the Stonewall Book Award.
